Women of Color

Reading Response #2
In Response to Women of Color in Academia Manifesto.

In the article "Women of Color in Academia Manifesto", it is explained how women of color are often presumed as incompetent in academic contexts simply because of the fact that they are women of color.
For these women, standards are set unreasonably high and are only seen as less inferior when they meet these ridiculous standards that almost nobody, regardless of gender and race, would be able to fill. This is absurdly unfair for women especially because number of women of color in the academic setting is not well represented due to their lack of numbers.

Women of color continue mobilize together to fight this injustice of unreasonable stereotypes. People need to see women of color for who they are as a person rather than judge on that rather than on looks to break this stereotype. People all around need to join together to make a stand and defend women of color when this injustice is seen in public. This fight will continue until this injustice is destroyed, because if we don't fight for what is right, then no change will ever be made.

Questions:
1) In what ways can you contribute to the fight for women of color?
2) How can we better represent women of color in the academic setting?
