The article "What Asian Americans are Bringing to Campus Movements for Racial Justice", by Mark Tseng Putterman delves into the topic on Asian American involvement in student movements. He points out in the article that Asian American students do not feel that they can do anything to change the status quo. Asian American students tend to feel that they are still outsiders. In addition to the divide between Asian American's different ethnic makeups, there is also divide between identity Asian American and Asian international students affecting the extent of a student movement. Speaking from personal experience as an Asian American that grew up in China, I do feel the difference returning to the States. Putterman's point is that Asian Americans, as a broad group, should set aside their differences to focus on making a change for the better.
Question: Is media exposure tied to the Asian American perspective on their place in society?
