In the article "The Time to Fight is Now': When Asian American Women in Academia Go Rogue," by Kieu-Linh Caroline Valverde and Wei Ming Dariotis, addresses the present situation of Asian American women in the world of academia. This reading highlights the problematic issues that Asian American women face in this career field and that they must stand up and fight for their position. The world of academia right now is clearly corrupt and needs to change. Thus, as more and more people grow willing to fight, they will be able to break down these oppressive walls or structures. I feel that as long as people keep fighting and sharing their experiences about the academic system's problem change will come. This article and class in general has really opened my third eye on how the university system is down right corrupt due to the corporatization of universities and in turn groups of people are being marginalized.
What would you do to change the "corrupt ways" in academia?
