ASA 2
Section 1
This article, “Why Ferguson Matters to Asian Americans,” by Soya Jung, portrays the current social picture where the ideology of white supremacy is normalized and in the minds of many it has been perceived as perfectly acceptable. Although, the author wishes to correct this mindset to fight for social justice; both for the ostracized group of African Americans and Asian Americans. I agree with Soya Jung in that the recent examples of black victims to white supremacy reflects the continued status quo of white superiority. Yet I disagree with Soya on the grounds of Asian Americans having to take a stance with the ostracized or the incumbent. I believe that there exists a middle ground between the two extremes, yet if this perspective is disagreed upon I would propose blurring the lines in between to better promote social harmony.
Question: Does fighting for equality entail picking a side?
