“Building a Culture of Solidarity: Racial Discourse,
Black Lives Matters, and Indigenous Social Justice” by Santos Ramos explains
the Black Lives Matter movement and the cross-cultural solidarity. The Black
Lives Matter movement affects all groups of color, however, it specifically
impacts the black community. The movement shows that blacks are targeted and
systemically forced to fail. White supremacy harms the progress of non-black
communities as well as shown by Native American killings.
The moment Black Lives Matter surfaced on Twitter, it
often leads to debates on do other colored groups matter as well. In doing so,
it sparked a lot of controversy on the black community questioning if only
their lives matter. However, the All Lives Matter which sparked from the Black
Lives Matter did not appear to understand the context of the movement. The
Black Lives Matter movement often corresponded with black brutality committed
by a police officer. The police shootings against blacks started protest
against police violence. In the end, the police officers never serviced justice
for their commits. The Black Lives Matter movement also talks about the racial
hierarchy and social privileges. Not all minorities are treated fairly, yet,
every minority group faces different sorts of racial injustice.
What else has
the Black Lives Matter movement touched upon for minority communities?
