Week 9- Brandon Choi

ASA A02
WEEK 9

While reading "Why Ferguson Matters to Asian Americans" by Soya Jung, I got the main idea that Asian Americans piggy back on anti-black resistance. Since we don't have a model minority we have no choice but to fight with African Americans in order to a credited as a race. Being in that middle ground is a dangerous place, Jung explained as is can make you seem innocuous and little. The importance of resistance in Asian Americans make it so that we have a place in America and gives us identity. I found this article was interesting in that I never saw sides she pointed out in why we resist and fight with anti-blackness. By picking a side we gain respect and acknowledgement. Personally I find that Asian Americans fall on the sides of white individuals because of our history of never being repressed and resisted against. The severity of African American resistance is more serious at the moment Asian Americans really don't have problems they are facing today.

Are Asian American more repressed with African Americans or are we privileged without the repression?
