Jiazhi Xu, week 8, A04

This week I read Mothering Is Liberation written by Allyson, and this passage reminded me of my mother, a tough woman who put all her endeavors and energy into work and family. Also, the writer illustrate the working oppression from a novel perspectives. As a mother/scholar with yellow skin, the writer could hardly balance her work and family since the newborn baby need to be taken good care of. Even though it’s not a new topic in recent society, a lot of female worker still concern and worry about that the pregnancy will disturb them from promoting or doing good job at work. However, the passage shows an expedient that asking the help from community. Under the assistance from community, the writer did a lot of adjustment and became a successful mother/scholar.
The story is impressive and enlightened, and I think employers should pay more attention and awareness to female workers, showing more respect and tolerance rather than only focusing on returns.
