Takami Yamamoto ASA 2 A02 Week 9

In this week's reading “Pain + Love = Growth: the labor of pinayist pedagogical praxis” written by Melissa-Ann Nievera-Lozano, it argued for how colored women are treated unfairly in academia. They often are stressed out because of discrimination against them. And this stress can easily cause them to be physically and mentally ill.
In the reading where it mentioned they are scared to bring shame to their family, it strongly reminded me of Disney's Mulan where Mulan was forced to do what the general society thought would bring honor to the family. In the reading, being inside the academia seemed to be honorable, but it was causing great stress for colored women. It was not healthy for them. However, it is not that they should not choose academia, but academia should treat them well. There should be justice to fix the discrimination of colored women and give everyone a fair chance at creating greatness.
Question: Is it okay to run away from discrimination or do we have to face it?
