The quote that “To die for one’s people is
a great sacrifice. To live for one’s people, an even greater sacrifice I choose
to live for my people.” is really impressive. Especially, I always learned
about the news that someone chooses to die because of the pressure from a group
or society. I am not really supporting this kind of idea because they are
actually placing the harm and pleasure to those who love them. But I also don’t
have the right to criticize them because they are really suffering from those
pressure that placed on them. So, this is the magic for this quote along with
the one mentioned in the earlier reading. Speaking up to change the situation to help
more people.
Also, I learned to find the reason of failure
from ourselves instead of external factors. I think this is a good idea in some
cases which can be a motivation for us to improve ourselves. However, sometimes
it might be the external reason. I don’t mean that we should blame our failure
to these external reasons. But we need to think critically. If it is really the
external reason, as mentioned in the reading the education system’s problem, we
need to do something to change it. The reasons for not getting the tenure might
not because of your qualification, but because of the discrimination in the
system. So, it is really important to acknowledge the problem and do something
correspondingly – speak up!
Question:
It is true that in reality, the
promotion or admission generally not depend on one criterion, how can we figure
out not being promoted or admitted is because we are not good enough or discriminated?
