After reading the "Conclusion: Academics Awaken: Power,
Resistance, and Being Woke.", I learned to fight for the inequality
and stereotype. When I was young, I was always taught to forbear and ignore other
people’s opinions. Since the education in Chinese culture is to be reserved and
to be conservative, people who fight for their rights always be unreasonable
and boresome. However, after taking this class, I learned how hard that American
people, especially colored people fight for their right. The idea that
"This is not just battles against the institution, nor is it about race,
class, gender, sexuality, or anything else that divides us, but rather it is
about how we choose, now that we have awoken to the reality of these
structures, to live in alliance with our people." really encourages
me. If we do not fight back and keep silence, the prejudice and inequality will
keep growing and one day you will find that there is no space left for you to stay
alive. I really glad that so many people stand out for themselves and for the
other people who face the same situations and I believe that there will be more
and more people join the group and fight for equality.
