Yi Yang, A01, Week 10

This week's reading is a conclusion of the book "Fight The Tower" we have spent the quarter studying. According to "Conclusion: Academics Awaken: Power, Resistance, and Being Woke", I think perhaps the greatest significance of this book is to let us know that we should bravely fight for our rights. Everyone is unique and has the right to speak for themselves. It's not just about race, about gender, social engineering, it's about our own choices. It is simply wrong to think that we are not doing enough to take credit for the unfair treatment and pressure we are being subjected to. As Asian-American women in the academia, they have always carried the label of "model minority." As Asian-Americans, as women, they are under several times more pressure than other people in the academia world. But it was time to wake up, and in this book, I also saw their determination and action.

This awakening does not mean turning against white men. It is just that Asian-American women should be aware of their rights and the reality of being manipulated by social engineering. In my view, this awakening could lead to better change in academia. The academic community should develop together in a group mode instead of competing for resources. The inspiration of this book to me is the meaning of awakening and cooperation. I hope "I choose to live for my people."
