In “Pain + Love = Growth: The Labor of Pinayist Pedagogical Praxis”, Melissa-Ann Nievera-Lozano presents  conversations with six activists of Pinay studies with the aim of exploring a crucial inward of Private formations of class, gender, and race, as well as revealing the unstable growth of the Personal-Political identity of Piany activist scholars. In this case, the author draws from an unorthodox, assembled framework of a rather decolonized feminist though as well as Buddhist philosophy (Hune, Noh, Junn, Mai’a, Pham, Yee, & Takeyama, 2019). As such, this helps the author in operationalizing the approach involved in capturing, interpreting, and illustrating the different ways in which the transformative experiences shape the work of scholars. Overall, the author brings out the image of how the various women of color involved in the conversations take different paradoxical positions through practices and experiences of anger and silence, and this shows how they extend the work of Pinayist pedagogical praxis, as shown in the topic of the article.
On the other hand, Wei Ming Dariotis’ article “Academic Symbiosis: A Manifesto on Tenure and Promotion in Asian American Studies” ideally argues that Asian American women have been subjected to low rates of promotion and tenure due to the manner in which the inter-societies of gender and race within academic marginalizes them (Hune, Noh, Junn, Mai’a, Pham, Yee, & Takeyama, 2019). Although critics of Asian American studies have debunked this claim, there are still claims of the practice. This is what motivates the author to do the article, as she exposes the plight of Asian American authors in the hands of racists in the academia world. This is similar to Melissa-Ann Nievera-Lozano’ s argument, in which the overall theme is the role and oppression of women in the academia world. The two articles are done by women, who could easily be branded feminist, on how women in academia are oppressed on the basis of gender and race. Therefore, this is to call for action to ensure equity and equality since women make an equal contribution to academia.
