Chen Liang ASA A02 Week 10

This week, I read the writing from Kieu Linh Caroline Valverde and Wei Ming Dariotis, which named "Conclusion: Academics Awaken: Power, Resistance, and Being Woke." It is very surprising to me for seeing my professor’s name in this reading material. So I would like to choose this article as my weekly assignment for week 10.

According to the content of this reading, the article is mainly focused on the pursuing of a truly equitable and ideally academic environment. The passage concludes the movement and the research would make the academic environment becoming equitable and ideally place in the future. In order to achieve this goal, everyone should be heard and share their voice with other researchers. It is crucial for the academic environment to make improvements. At this time, many potential problems would appear, such as the working position, race, gender. However, nowadays, many Asian females are still working under this hardship of discrimination. The ideally academic environment would not exist such bias. So, I would like to call this improvement of the academic environment as a battle, which associates with all the external elements that would destroy the balance of the academic environment.

Everyone should treat as same. No matter what race and gender they are. Everyone’s voice should be heard and everyone should have their chance to speak aloud. I wish we could make a better academic environment in the future.
