Yuxin Shen ASA 002 A03 Week 10

This week, we finished reading this book. I feel that the conclusion part reflects the author's strong emotions. I really love the sentence the professor states that "I choose to live for my people", which is also the purpose of the book. "Our people" infers to people who are in academia, and "live for our people" means that collecting our strength to defend their rights. People should not expect that the world and academia always have justices and fairness for everyone. Instead, it is important for us to learn how to fight for ourselves. However, people should still persist to spread kindness, justice, and empathy. On the surface, people outside of academia may believe scholars have high moral standards without any inappropriate behaviors, and academia is a place of civil. What they do not know is that Asian American women scholars have a hard time resisting discrimination in academia, and they need great courage to stand out and speak up for themselves and their people. This book can make more people know the true conditions of Asian American women in academia, and just like a professor, there are thousands of women in the society are going to fight for their justice and rights.

After finishing reading this book and reflecting back to the title "Fight the Tower", people should fight against injustice and discrimination just like a tower on Asian American women's shoulders. The resistance of unfairness should apply in a legal way. People should eliminate discrimination on racial people and learn to respect colored people since they never know the difficulties and challenges in colored people's lives. Asian American women only represent partial injustice, and our society needs to explore solutions for resolving discrimination issues. The different racial communities should get united with each other to contribute to the entire nation as a whole.
