Frank Sang A04 Week 8

The most impressive reading from this week is "Mothering Is Liberation: Giving Birth to Alagaan Pedagogy", which tells stories about women also known as mothers surviving in the academic field. Even though gender equality has been balancing and improved better, there are still some inequality in our society, especially social identity is mom. In my country, I know that some companies will confirm that if a female employee decides to become a mom, and the decision will strongly affect her career path. It seems unfair to the woman since being a mom is also a women's right, and it should not be the difficulty of pursuing career achievement. Besides the career, in the academic field, being a mom will also make a woman work harder in academics since the more concerns about the kids will come up.

As a student in college, I have not met many people under the mothership situation, but what I realize is that being pregnant always affect women more than man. We might say that this is discrimination, but we are still looking for a better solution although this condition has lasted for a long time period.

Question: why does this discrimination appear at the very beginning?
