After reading Wei Ming Dariotis' article "Academic Symbiosis: A Manifesto on Tenure and Promotion in Asian American Studies," it refreshes me thinking by providing the conception of "Academic Symbiosis." At the beginning of the passage, the author Wei Ming Dariotis uses the classic movie Star War's stories to analyze the friendship between two Asian Alien men is unique and also reflects the promise of higher education. Their relationship value the symbiotic relationships that endure great change and conflict. In another movie, The Last Jedi successfully created the Asian women's character, which is not as a sex object or a villain. They have the faith that not fight what they hate but save what they love. From my perspective, this sentence represents the standard that should be seen in academia. Since most of the Asian American women scholars in academia use their love and care to fight against the injustice, they faced and liberated the women scholars who receive unequal treatment.
In this passage, the author also reveals that Asian women scholars whose tenure is achieved also need to have training in self-immolation. It's still difficult for some probationary faculty to entirely made promotions even if they're overqualified. The Academic symbiosis leads scholars to argue about the structure of shared governance. What I could see is that this system is often inaccessible and hard to participate in. Therefore, by considering these unsolvable issues, Wei Ming Dariotis had created manifestos in different directions, which promote the educational system to be maturer and sophisticated.
