Shiting Yu A02 Week9

This week, I read an article named "Academic Symbiosis: A Manifesto on Tenure and Promotion in Asian American Studies" by Wei Ming Dariotis. It claims that if the battles for justice are won, which represent that the Asian American women get their rights in academia, there will be academic symbiosis in the end. Rather than oppressive power in the current academia, there should be a system of supportive. However, it's very hard for the academia to achieve the state that what we called equal treatment between different group of people. This chapter talk more about the imagination of university system that are equitable and joyful.
At the beginning of the article, the author use "Star Wars: Rogue One" which is a well known science fiction movie to illustrate the situation of Asian American women in academia. It's impossible for one person to change the whole situation of academia. Nevertheless, if everyone take small actions that can lead to great change.
Then, the author explains the definition of Academia symbiosis. Academia symbiosis stand for the antithesis of academic competition, hierarchy, and parasitism. As the author illustrated in the acticle that "Academic symbiosis means building thoughtfully supportive academic community in which we each bring what we can share to the potluck rather than fighting over scare resources."
In this way, I really hope that academia symbiosis that Asian American women come true as soon as possible. Because it's what they deserved for.

Question:

What can we do to help the arrival of academia symbiosis in the world today?
