In the article “An International Asian Woman Scholar’s Fight,” Takeyama talked about her experience to fight for tenure in the university as an Asian woman scholar. She was not respected by her students due to her identity A couple of students plagiarized or find other students to help them pass this course. Takeyama would like to report those students, but the university is on the students’ side and ask her to prove evidence and filling report and attend a hearing. Compared with male faculty, they didn’t have the same situation with their students. In addition, when she wants to get a tenure review, the university refused her application. Then she got a lot of mental health from the pressure come from the university. She even wanted to suicide. Because of the support of her family members and other transnational scholars, she walked out of the shadow and continue the fight for the tenure. Finally, she got tenure. From her story, I learned that the situation for transnational scholars is filled with bias and racism. Asian women scholars suffer a lot from the university and some impolite students. All the transnational scholars should cooperate together and fight for unequal policy and bias.
Question: Does the university have some policy to make sure the rights of transnational scholars?
