Yvonne Chen, ASA 002 A01, Week 3

According to Part I, “Fear Is the Path to the Dark Side”, in "Fighting the Tower", I have a closer look at the discrimination and unequal treatment in the academic world. Statistics clearly point out that Asian American women didn't get what they deserved even though they work so hard to fight for their future. According to the survey, 74.4 percent of Asian American women scholars have health problems related to the working environment and the stress they faced in the academy. Thus, those unfair treatments not only hurt their mental health but also their physical health. In my opinion, everyone is equal before knowledge. People won't know more about something according to their sex, and their fruit shouldn't be denied because of sex. Academy should be tolerant of races, sexes, nationality, and many other innate factors, and we should be respectful to anybody's result after research. The author also introduces history related to race and inequality in the past time. I understand that history will influence the development of races. For example, the Black developed slower than the White because slavery caused a different starting point between them. However, it's been such a long time, and I was confused that people still have those stereotypes in their minds. Moreover, Asian Americans appear late in U.S. history, why are they also badly influenced by historical factors?
