Zili Zeng ASA002 A03 Week 5

After reading this week's reading, I was truly moved by the process of how Shannon Deloso fought against the unfair trade in the academia, from the book "Precariously Positioned: Asian American Women Students' Negotiating Power in Academia." I also ask myself that why there seems to be a natural sense of unconfidence as Asian American students and why sometimes we are afraid of fighting against the unfair rules that actually strongly disobeys the social justice. We all gain knowledge from the academia and we really should apply the knowledge we learned to fight the rights that we should have benefit.

The courage to fight against the unfair trade is just like the courage to wear masks during the covid-19 outbreak. Although wearing masks might bring more biased stereotypes on Asian Americans, but it is the right thing to do and it is how we protect ourselves by a proper and reasonable way. Similarly, if we are treated unfairly from the academia, we should also develop the sense of courage to fight the rules to protect ourselves. What's important is not how we fight but if we choose to fight or not.
