Week 5

After reading the "Precariously Positioned: Asian American Women Students' Negotiating Power in Academia" by Shannon Deloso, I understood that the pressure and disturbance that the Asian American Women suffered in the Academia. As the writer Shannon Deloso mentioned in the article, she wanted to protect precariously positioned students, professors, departments, and colleges. As the "College of Ethnic Studies representative and incoming president of the SFSU Associated Students", she truly understands that students need to express themselves bravely and reveals the method that university used to silence students.
Shannon was a young Asian American student leader and fighting against the university's administration that tried to use the power to attack her that forced her to give up standing out for the Asian American women student's right. She was worried about her actions because she used to be taught to respect the people who are older, she always stays silent under the authority. However, she chose to stand out at this time because she understood the unequal treatments that Asian American Women Students faced in the university. Most importantly, she understood that university thought the Filipina American like her didn't have a strong voice in the academia and usually obedient to the actions that university did. She was fighting to protect the ethnic studies-based belief and hope that university should support the growth of Asian American women students.

Problem: How can we do to protect the rights of Chinese students in UC Davis during the Coronavirus known as Chinese virus period?
