This
week's reading mainly talks about one Asian American student's
experience of fighting the bias. This reading has a student's
perspective to express the unfairness in the university, and the last
week, we read the article about the Asian professor's experience. It
really needs courage for one Asian American student to defend ethnic
studies and university administration in the public gathering. In fact,
there were few first-generation Asian American women had little voice to
doubt and propose the protest. This reading has detailed descriptions
of emotions: how Asian American students against the bias. In this
week's class, the professor proposes investigating discrimination about
injustice against women of color in the academy. I am shocked by the
data because in the USC staff, most women are white females. In
addition, white males and females have a higher success rate in social
science and humanities. We can see from the data that people have deep
discrimination and bias on Asian Americans. Fortunately, the new
generation realizes that it is necessary to stand out to defend these
voices. Like reading mentions that "I believe that we should train the
next generation of activist students so that they become aware of how
student activities and student leadership can become structurally
restricted over time." Asian Americans as a group, they need excellent
people to stand out to demonstrate the group's ability and show their
firm decision. Like the picture I propose, Asian Americans need to get
together to defend bias.
