Yandong Zhang ASA2 A04 Week 2

After reading the article "Taking Action: Asian American Faculty against Injustices in the Academy" and the introduction of the book, I find that Asian-Americans were facing unequal treatments in the academy and education system. Comparing with those white people in the United States, Asian-Americans have tougher conditions on their research, stricter promotion criteria. Moreover, kids from Asian families can’t go to the same school for education as the other white kids. Those series of problems had troubled Asian Americans for a long time in the academic field. School is not just a place of learning. It will shape the way of thinking for the next generation. If all the white kids were taught that Asian-Americans are different from them, they will keep this idea for a long time. This idea will silently influence their behaviors; eventually, it will lead to huge damage to this country. With many people holding the idea that Asian people came to the United States to steal their wealth, the unfair treatment will become harder and harder. We shall teach students the correct idea, and direct them in the right way.

Question: Do we still have the same kind of trouble for Asian-Americans in nowadays? I have heard that Chinese professors are harder to get support for their research.
