ASA 2 - A01
Week 4
This week's reading was Jane Junn and Mai'a K. Davis Cross' "Injustice Against Women of Color in the Academy. The reading shed more light on the mistreatment and difficulties that Women of Color faced in a work environment. Sadly, it still exists. The reading details into the difficulties Women of Color dealt with in terms of hiring or promotions for jobs. Even today, women in most jobs, earn less than their male colleagues. Even today, it is more challenging for a woman to keep up the respect in a work environment. The difference in the number of males hired versus female hired still exists.
It saddens me because the truth is that Asian American Women have been part of ground breaking missions around the world which seems to have gone unrecognized. Such discrimination has meddled with their careers and physical and mental health. Women, not only Asian American but all over, should unite together and fight against such discriminators and pressure in the work place. Powerful women are CEOs of many fortune 500 companies like General Motors, IBM, Best Buy, Oracle Corporation and many more. These women should be an inspiration for all women to beat the odds and continue fighting through.
