Asian Racism
Race matters in every part of society today. Race can be witnessed from the churches, education systems, and our everyday relations with other people.  As an international Asian student, I rarely feel comfortable sharing my experiences with other students because of racial discrimination. In the United States, Asian American students always have to struggle so that they can pursue education in higher institutions.  Sometimes people will produce memes targeting the Asian communities in North America. These students will be yelled at and even get threatened on the streets. These incidents demonstrate how racism against the Asian communities in North America is continuing to rise. History shows how there has been prejudice against Asian students who are found in North America.
This week’s reading analyzes how there is racism, xenophobia, sexism, and other forms of inequalities in academic institutions. Sometimes Asian American students are being mistaken as Asian International students. The authors provide a comprehensive review of the experiences of international students. According to, Kieu Linh Caroline Valverde & Wei Ming Darioti, (2019), there are "unintended discrimination" and xenophobia directed to students who are thought to be Asian international students. Sometimes Asian American students are discriminated against because of their skin color. The authors also assert that it is very important to address some of the experiences of Asian International students who are discriminated against in the United States.  The authors have also discussed how Asian Americans have struggled to access their educational rights in high school and higher education institutions in the United States.
