This week, my reading of choice to blog about was "Unpacking the Master's Plan: Asian American Women Resisting the Language of Academic Imperialism. The relation to the topic of this class from this reading is how the ultimate goal was based on race. This reading introduces itself in the realm of race related topic by means of the introduction of a new university president as well as a so called master plan. What this plan really entailed however, was the larger vulnerability of the Asian American studies departments as well as its teachers. This directly correlates to the repression of asians as stated in many cases in this class however this is just one more case of asian exclusion in academia. However because of certain people willing to take a stand, many of these woman have allowed for students all over to be able to express their true identities and learn about their history. I am thoroughly confused as to why Asians are always being targeted and why there is no bigger story on this as opposed to the racism and repression that occurs in other races. This frustrates me and I do not understand why things are the way they are, especially in the sense that they correlate into the academia setting.
One question that I had however, was why are asians as well as asian American study topics always the most vulnerable in academia?
