Xiya Shi ASA002 A03 week4

After reading the assigned article, “That’s No Moon!”: Attack of the Institution “Fear Is the Path to the Dark Side,” the beginning poem led people to rethink their behaviors. Sometimes, being silent to the seen rumors and injustice indirectly murdered an innocent person. The poem’s author W.P. advocated that Asian American Women should be brave to voice for themselves. While facing doubts and discrimination, as part of this group, people should not silently see others being persecuted. Instead, they should rise up and fight for their deserved human rights.

It also expands the discussion about existing unequal and biased issues inside the educational system. In the passage “Unpacking the Master’s Plan: Asian American Women Resisting the Language of the Academic Imperialism,” Eliza Noh interviewed a former provost, then he responded, “public education is not fulfilling its promise of access for the underserved, and there is a loss of trust in public education.” (Noh, 2013) Clearly, we noticed that the educational system did not yet mature enough to create an equal, diverse, and deserved education environment. Combining with the passage’s argument that brought up by Jane Junn and Mai’a K. Davis Cross, they discussed the issue of injustice against women of color in the academy. Only a small number of scholars of color and Asian American Women in the department of social sciences and humanities. However, from my perspective, I think this issue has been gradually solved. As a communication student who belongs to the social science and humanity department at UC Davis, I feel one-third of the professors and teaching assistants are Asian American females or Asian females. I think the educational system has made efforts to increase more hiring and promoting opportunities for Asian American women.
