The article, “Introduction. “The Time to Fight Is Now”: Asian-American Women, Academia’s Socially Engineered “Privileged Oppressed,” Go Rogue.”, wrote by Kieu Linh Caroline Valverde and Wei Ming Dariotis shows an whole image of fights by Asian-American women in the academia. Discrimination, injustice, inequality and such so negative emotions and behaviors happened to them. It is more difficult for them to chase their personal value in academia than for others since the standard was unfair which included discrimination for race and gender.
It brings me to another related point this week. The video, named ON STRIKE!, is a record based on the strikes happened in UC Berkeley in May 1999. As I watched, I saw the police warning the students over the loudspeaker and taking them away with relative violence.

In these materials, I have seen courage, I have seen sacrifice, and I have seen countless people speaking out for themselves and also for others of the same race. These are not futile efforts, but practical.
Both of these examples are about academia. I was concerned about reports of the trial over admissions at Harvard University against Asian students, which is another example of discrimination happened to Asian-American in academia. According to news posted by Katie Reilly, Students for Fair Admissions (SFFA) accused Harvard of discriminating against Asian-American students since they hold them with higher standards than other races (line 21-24, 2019). I think this is a lack of uniformity of standards, and which is also a manifestation of injustice.
The old men fought for themselves and for us. And similarly, we have to fight for ourselves and for the next generation as well. There is still a long way to go.
My question is: Why both anti-Asian and anti-Asian-American sentiment are strong? Americans are made up of different cultures and races, so why do they still have more malice towards Asian-Americans?
