Songmin Li ASA002 A04 Week2

The journal on canvas, Fight the Tower: A Call to Action for Women of Color in Academia wrote by Kieu Linh Caroline Valverde shows me a series of stories about the authors' life and her inner thoughts about her fights of discrimination. At first part, she mentioned her experience of working at Berkeley which makes me feel that the oppression and oppression of women came from all sides, including all genders and environments. I understand that it is true that women are targeted and suppressed in some degree, but what I didn't know was that isolation could happen in an environment like academia where people usually think work can speak for itself.  I am shock with that fact.
Then she talked about her "battles" against the academic environment and claimed that the academic environment were blind to the fact that women of color are being stigmatized. I feel like there are a lot of respects for people of color and women in general nowadays, but there is still a image of stereotype happened.
Nowadays, coronavirus invaded the United States and this incident has emboldened the anti-asian community at the university. Many people speak of the virus as China virus since the virus is originated in Wuhan,China. That is a hard racist attack among Asian. At the same time, the news of bullying Chinese students also happened frequently during this period. For instance, according to the reports from Christina Capatides, 2020, a 16-year-old boy who is Asian-Americans in California's SAN Fernando valley was attacked by high school bullies. The reason why bullies accused him of having a coronavirus is just because he is an Asian-American (line1-3).  This is just one example of hundreds of bully incidents. Thus, in this situation, the numbers of the events of protest about Asian racism of coronavirus has raised.

The above picture is about the protest to condemn racism aimed at Asian communities in Boston on March 12, 2020. These people shown in picture are from the Asian American Commission in Massachusetts(Steven Senne, line21).
In this media age, there is so much information that can influence one's judgment, and of course, there is racist commentary in it. The issue of racism still needs people's voice to change the public opinion. It requires the efforts of all of us.

Question: How long will it take for discrimination against Asian-Americans to finally subside?
