Shiting Yu A02 Week3

In the article "Introduction."The Time to Fight Is Now": Asian American Women, Academia's Socially Engineered "Privileged Oppressed, " Go Rogue." by Linh Caroline Valverde and Wei Ming Dariotis, the authors demonstrate that academia seems to be more difficult for "color" people especially Asian American women because academia has many problems that they need to solve by themselves. The university think these women can overcome any difficulties and take it for grant, which makes these women struggle. This discrimination also be normal at that time.
Actually, I feel that these challenges for Asian women also appear in many places. Several weeks ago, when I watched " Why Women Kill," I noticed an Asian American actress named Lucy Liu. Her performance in this teleplay is brilliant. Nowadays, nothing is strange to see the face of Asian American women. However,Lucy Liu was struggled at the beginning. I can not remember her story clearly. I just remember that it is impossible for an Asian American woman to act in the teleplay at several years ago. No director want an Asian American woman to be the main Character in the their teleplay. However, Lucy Liu still insisted at that time, and she tried again and again. In the end, she is succeed. I just think that what if she did not insist? The difficulties she faced were not the same problems for these White actresses.

Question: How to allow more brilliant Asian American women to be seen by others?
