Women in color meet lots of difficulties in the U.S. academy. These difficulties include discrimination in hiring and promotion in universities. In USC humanities and social science department, the tenure success rate of white males is 92%; the success rate of white female is55%. However, the tenure success rate of Asian-American women is only 40%, which mean 60% of Asian-American women are dropped or denied before achieving the tenure (Junn & Cross, 2020). One of reasons for the low achieving tenure rate of Asian-American is universities’ varies strategies and insidious behaviors. The tough situations that women in color met in academia are common in other career fields as well. For example, many companies prefer white male and set invisible promotion glass ceiling for women in color. Although the situation is hard, it is extremely necessary for women in color to fight against the discrimination. There are many successful cases, for example, UCS Asian-American tenure promotion has already become better right now. Moreover, more and more women in color stand out and go to the political stage to have a voice. They will create a better environment for women in color as their representors.
