After reading this week’s article, what surprised me most is Who Killed Soek-Fang Sim? By W. P. To be honest, I was angry about the content. In this article, both of the author and her friend Soek-Fang took great effort on their work and had great achievements on it. However, they were not treated equality and even be abused and discriminated against only because of their color and gender. Now I finally realized how much people discriminate against people of different colors and genders.
Besides this article, there are many other things that can also reflect the discrimination and inequality against Asians. In the article Confronting Anti-Asian Discrimination During The Coronavirus Crisis by Ed Park, the author talks about his own experience of discrimination during the coronavirus. One day when he crossed Seventh Avenue as usual, a young man suddenly swore at him. Some radical saying like “Get the fuck away from me.” And “You, fucking Chinese motherfucker don’t fucking get me sick...” Actually, I heard a lot about “Chinese coronavirus.” Some people think since this disease originated from China, so Chinese people all carry this virus. More seriously, some radical people beat up Asian with masks. Form my perspectives, coronavirus needs to be defeated by the whole world, and it should not be blamed on any one country. Finally, I hope the outbreak of coronavirus will pass soon.
