Due to the coronavirus, many students and I have our plans and schedule moved and cancel. Right after finals, the university informed me to moved out of the dorms to go back home. It was difficult to move my stuff back home. My family was worried about my health since they heard about the case at Davis and afraid when I got home. We are concerned about supplies and the outcomes caused by the coronavirus. I am helping my family as much as I can. It is frustrating to see people using the coronavirus as an excuse to be racist towards Asian Americans. As I go to local stores, I see hostile attitudes towards Asian Americans in my community and making remarks about if they are wearing a mask, they should not go outside. Many people are scared and anxious, leading people to find someone to blame. Many Asian Americans across America are facing racism and discrimination since people assume they caused this pandemic when they didn't. In "Fight the tower: A Call to Action for Women of color in Academia" by Kieu-Linh Valverde, she explains how it was difficult for a woman of color to navigated through academia and felt she had no support through her journey.
How is the Unites States is dealing with the coronavirus that is affecting their society and is there anything being down to help Asian Americans that is facing harassments and violence?
