According to the week four reading material, “Killing Machine: Exposing the Health Threats to Asian American Women Scholars in Academic’’  written by Caroline Valverde, Cara Maffini Pham, Melody Yee, and Jing Mai. The author stated that ‘’ Even today Asian American women still hit the age-old “bamboo ceiling” as Asians who are stereotyped as passive and unlikely to be leaders. They also hit a “glass ceiling” as women, who are, as a whole, less likely to be mentored, given lower student evaluations than their male colleagues, and thus less likely to receive promotions.’’ I agree with the author's views. Imagine If you hear about a young and promising company leader, it's hard for me to connect this leader with Asian women. For most people, they have some stereotypes connected to Asian women, for example, Exotic, small and not being considered a spokesperson.
I think we should change this situation. Everyone comes to this world equally. We should not discriminate or stereotype others because of their skin color. For example, you may think all Indian people good at math are a kind of stereotype. My question for this reading is about how we can remove stereotypes from a group?
