Week 2 blog
After reading through the week two reading article “Fight the Tower: Women of Color in Academia Manifesto ix Prologue: Taking action: “Asian American Faculty against Injustices in the Academy.” I agree with the author's opinion. In my life, I can see a lot of gender discrimination against women, and most men think women are not qualified for certain positions. For example, there is no woman president in American history. Also, Most of the politicians in the White House are men. Also, There have been gender discrimination in the hiring process, involving the qualifications of job seekers. As I am an international student from China, I saw that most managers prefer to hire male workers rather than female workers in China. Indeed, as a deeper understanding, there is no difference in performance between males and females in the working field. The discrimination against employees based on gender is wrong. However, gender discrimination is always a social phenom. My question for this reading is What should we do to pursue gender equality? Should we reach gender equality by law or education?
Also, we need to realized discrimination not only happens in gender，Discrimination can also occur on race and faith. We should keep fighting for any inequality in our life.
