          As an international student who came to America for college education, I notice that there are many differences in how local people treat foreign people. By reading the article “Taking Action: Asian American Faculty against Injustices in the Academy”, I realize how Asian American women gradually obtain their right to receive good education and acquire equally opportunity in work place. Their way is full or obstacles and barriers. However white people are at a high status in Chinese academy. For example, at Shandong University, student from other countries lives in separate dormitory, and their dormitory is newer and better than local students’. There are foreign teachers hired in that university and the university also set up especial classes for them.

          These differences also occur in work place. Asian American women hard to keep their jobs and obtain adequate salary. They are treated with racism and sexism in their work place. However, in China, everything is adverse. Foreign teacher, especially white people, can obtain much higher salaries than local Chinese teachers. It is not because those foreign teachers received higher education before, and not because they are good at teaching students. The reason is they have higher social status form no reason.

Question: I really want to know how these treatments to foreign people can be so different.
