Asian Americans are considered a 'model minority' because they are considered better off socioeconomically than African Americans, but have less privilege than white people. Racism has always defined American history since the Chinese Exclusion Act and now there is a new wave of racism towards Asians because of the coronavirus. Social engineering in academia is the oppression of Asian American women lecturers. They are expected to not speak up against the system and they are easily replaceable. Asian American women are not willing to voice their complaints because they often dismissed. They are more vulnerable to oppression in the workplace because they are often positioned at the bottom of the university hierarchy. Many find themselves not able to speak up for fear of retaliation. Universities are known to cover up because of all the power and influence it has. After reading the introduction, I know that now more than ever is the time for people to fight against the oppression in academia. This manifesto wants to break the stereotype of Asian American women as being passive and privileged. The first time that I have ever heard of the Rosalie Tung supreme court case was from the reading. As an Asian American woman, I should be more aware of the issue. Why are cases on the oppression of the academic system not widely taught in school?
