Week 3 Reflection
The
Asian Americans are being recognized as the “model minority” because of their
higher admissions in the Universities and the first non-white group to have the
privilege of SP-1 and SP-2. I believe this is the result from the higher
education requirements and levels that they have in China, because they are stricter
to their students. While, here in the US, education is not as pressured and it
is more based on the student’s willingness to work. Also, the history of racial
discrimination may have motivated the Asian Americans to be more hardworking,
in order to get accepted in the society and to get a job. Therefore, the result
of the hard working Asian Americans is that the University is getting a greater
Asian American population.
