Week 2
As a student who only has been in American for 1 year, I always feel the compus environment of American is relatively safe. At least for one year in UCD, there was not much violent events toward students. Until I saw the "Pepper Spray" vedio in this week's lecture, I realized how vulnerable college students could be in a certain environment. Through searching news online, it is not hard to find out the protest is the most happen scence where students can be threatened. There are lots of threaten students need to face in a protest, not only physical damage, but mental abuse. Therefore, it is crucial to come out with a regulation about police equipment when facing civilian protest. In the "Pepper Spray"incident, although the pepper solution is not a life threatening weapon toward students, but its inventor Kamran Loghman stated how peper spray be used at UC Davis was "violated his original intent.

What we need to learn from this incident is how to protect our student. For students themselves, have a clear mind to adjust to the environment is importment. In other words, students need to learn what situations may be dangerous for them. For goveronment, publishing a regulation to limit the weapon which police can use to un-armed citizen is also crucial.
