From the article “Taking Action: Asian American Faculty against Injustices in the Academy”, I knew that Asian Americans’ academic road is tough and fulls of obstacles. College degrees are important for Asian Americans to get into society and help them enhance their competitiveness within the huge talent market and find satisfactory jobs. However, lacking enough academic support and services, Asian Americans get a very high percent to dropout college. According to the CSU Office of the Chancellor, “Nearly 20 percent of Asian American and Pacific Islander first-time freshman students in the California State University system drop out before their third year of college.” Struggles are not only for Asian American students, but also for Asian American faculty in the Academy, especially Asian American women. With both racism and sexism, Asian American women faculty are hard to get equal treatment in the work and keep their jobs longer or get an unfair salary. Before I read the article, I cannot imagine that there are racism and sexism in the higher education workplace nowadays. After I read the article, I know that there are lots of things we need to take action and to stop the racism spread in higher education institutions.
Question: What are some institutions that have already taken action to help Asian Americans?
