Michalea Lai, A01, Week 2

We are currently living through history with the coronavirus, and this pandemic is a prime example on our lack of support as Asian Americans. Instead of helping one another, we see people tearing each other down through all acts of violence. It even seems like our main support, our government, is letting us down. In times like these and amidst panic, people are believing everything that is said on the media. This in turn creates a lot of angst for Asian Americans. We are supposed to be apart of society, yet it seems like we are being outcasted for being Asian.

In Professor Valverde's "Fight the Tower", she mentions feeling isolated due to verbal and non-verbal attacks. I believe that this feeling ties into what many Asian Americans are feeling today, even if it is not in the same context. We are all in this together, yet we feel isolated. During this time, we need to stand together in support, just as students stood together to support Professor Valverde in her tenure appeal process. So I pose the question: what are some ways we can support each other as a community?
