Triroje Rathaloengsak Week 4 Blog SS1

In this week readings, we mostly focus on the different perspective of Asian in academic field. We read other articles which talk about the perspective of Asian students in educational institution in the US. In the article "Care Work", the author has blown my mind. I never taught that in the academic field, professor never really care about whether or not students stress about their class. However, I was wrong. As in this article, the author talk about both perspective professor and student. As in student perspective, student sometimes have a hard time understanding the material in class. This can cause both physically and emotional stress. By physically stress can cause something like lack of sleep due to stress. In emotional stress, this can include something like self-disappointed, or hopeless. Therefore, sometimes student might need help from professor, not only in academic subject, but also their emotional helps as well.

In another article which I found it to be interesting is "She Shall Not Be Moved." As I have previously mention before in the paragraph above that students sometime have emotionally problem that can be helped by their professor, what if the professor also experience or have their emotional problem themselves as well. But another thing that is really interesting about this article is that the author mention that student find Asian professors are easier to approach. Maybe this is one of the reason why Asian women choose to work in academic field, even thought they have been treat so unfair compare to other women race.

Question: Is there any support system that help professor if they have emotional problem? What are the common reason that cause their stress?
