Week 6

Alex Truong
Section 2

In Brian Spero's article, "Is Wi-Fi in Schools Safe?" he brings attention to the growing issues regarding technology and the radiation that it is putting out. He introduces his article by explaining electrical magnetic fields and how there is a possibility it can harm us today due to the increase of Wi-Fi and the use of technology. He then goes on to say that this is an alarming issue because today education is implementing and requiring the use of more and more computers and iPads/tablets. These devices are direct sources to the emitting of radiation. As a solution to this Spero suggests that we move away from Wi-Fi and wireless networks to cables and directly connected to the source.

However, I do not think this is a plausible solution because the introduction to Wi-Fi and wireless were to make everyday life easier and more convenient. The stepping away from Wi-Fi would be a step backwards in our society because these days people want what is more convenient and easy as opposed to what is good for them. Fast food is an example of this, people would much rather go eat out than to take time out of their day to cook and eat a much healthier meal. At the end of the day, I believe that everything plays a factor in the deterioration of health, meaning that if we worry about what is harming us we would spend our days worrying for countless hours.

What can we do to reduce the fear of the deterioration of health?
