Jiawei Luo A04 Week 10

Week 10
In this week which is the final week, I read an article named "Conclusion: Academics Awaken: Power, Resistance, and Being Woke" written by Kieu Linh Caroline Valverde and Wei Ming Dariotis. The title of the chapter indicated this will be the ending of this book, I have a deep understanding of Asian American after finishing this book. As an Asian student who has studied abroad in the United States for many years, I am able to understand how Asian American are treated unequally in different areas, especially in academic institutions. As the author said in the article, "Fight the Tower contributors have dramatically, cogently, and fiercely unveiled important truths while offering actionable resistance." All they want to do is to create movements that will help academia become a place of truth seeking and equitable teaching and learning.
"I choose to live for my people" stands for the ultimate goal of authors. It's not a great sacrifice in my opinion, but a great achievement to change the situation of academia. It represents the resiliency and survival of many Asian American women faculty, undergraduate students and etc. It is not only a justice battle to fight over the control by academia, but also rectification of the names of Asian American women scholars. There should not be different treatments among race, class, gender, sexuality, or anything else that divided us.
Finally, this chapter makes me really emotional, because I feel that many Asian American stand for their own rights and they should get the things that they deserve including promotion. I hope that there will not be racism problems in the United States anymore not just for the Asian American.

Question: Is there any movement that can help promote everyone living in the world can be treated equally?
