Congzhi Jiang ASA S01 Week10

Congzhi Jiang
ASA S01
Week10

The course is coming to an end. Our final week's reading were "Conclusion: Academic Awakens: Power, Resistance and Being Woke" by Kieu Linh Caroline Valverde and Wei Ming Dariotis and "Epilogue: Upward and Onward: Asian American Women's Legal Resistance" by Robyn Magalit Rodriguez. Just like our previous reading assignments, the authors emphasized the true meaning of justice by showing some minorities who have revolted for their rights. What I have realized is the power of hope. We should keep powerful hope in our heart to turn anger and pain into oppression and fight against the academia.

I appreciated that I was able to learn the minority issues that I had not realized from this course. As a student, we might feel distant from the current injustice that our professors go through. However, every issue is connected to each other, and we can always relate to each other and help each other. Although we still have a long way ahead to completely get rid of discrimination that women of color face in the society, we can do always do something to increase awareness. My question: If there’s one fact we should remember from this course, what would it be?

[Good Morning America]. (2019, Oct 25). These women in academia are tired of mansplaining and workplace aggression. [Video File]. Retrieved from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MO4G3bXmvQ
