The Reflection of Coronavirus
As a Chinese, I have been focusing on coronavirus since
January 2020. From the beginning, when I saw the news of coronavirus in the
United States, I kept calling my family to sterilize and wear masks. They
didn't think so at that time. A month later, when China lock down the city,
everyone wore masks and was not allowed to leave home, everyone's travel plans
were canceled, and the only chance that many Chinese had expected to be
reunited with their families in a year disappeared. Today, April 4, is the annual
Tomb-sweeping Day in China. However, April 4, 2020, is different from the
previous Tomb-sweeping Festival: Chinese people not only pay tribute to their
lost families but also mourn for the medical staff who died in the fighting
against coronavirus.
Wenliang Li, an ophthalmologist in Wuhan, China, is
remembered by all Chinese in this period. On December 30, 2019, Li released a piece of
information about the epidemic situation of the seafood market in South China.
As early as four months ago, when he found that the patient's pneumonia was
different from that in previous experience, he reminded the Wuhan Central
Hospital to pay attention to this issue. However, he was warned and admonished
by the local police station for "publishing false information on the
Internet." All of this is dramatic. Li's point of view is not wrong, and
the warning he brought to people did not attract people's attention, making the
spread of the virus more intense. On January 10, Li Wenliang had cough and
fever after encountered a viral pneumonia patient with unknown cause and was
infected, and then the disease became serious. From the late-night of February
6 to the early morning of February 7, the news about Dr. Li Wenliang's death
kept mentioned on the social platform. Chinese worried about the life and death
of this young doctor, who mourned the fall of a front-line anti-epidemic
fighter.

We all remembered the voice of a doctor left to the world in his last time. In this period, there are too many stories to discuss. Doctor Li bought time for the Chinese people to remind people to pay attention to the virus, but people's negligence made things serious, and people from all walks of life were constantly defeated by the virus. Keqiang Li (2020) maintained that "A healthy society should not only have one kind of voice." People have to listen to different voices and learn from them. The rising death toll in China and the Chinese government's abandonment of the economic option of the lockdown the city did not call international attention, which led to more serious epidemics in Japan, South Korea, the United States, and Italy. When someone uses his own experience to warn others, only death can cause people's attention.
Question: Is it a denial of human rights that the government
requires people to wear masks to protect themselves and others?
