Frank Sang ASA 004 week5

Based on the readings from this week, I read through some stories about the hurt from discrimination. Especially from the reading "The Cost of Speaking" written by W.P., it tells me that discrimination can seriously hurt people of color in many fields, usually about academics. The sad story of this thing is when one tries to fight for the rights, the result is not always fair, and usually, the result hurts more.

In my experience, there are stereotypes about Asian American people on academics since they have a similar appearance with Asian people who are always considered as people with high academic achievement. In fact, if one could study well does not depend on color or race, it is more about personality and other factors like family or environment. Fortunately, Shannon Deloso did stand up and fight for the rights of the minority. I believe that if we truly want the situation to change, we need more and more people like Shannon who is brave enough to speak out. it is the best way to wake up more people to consider what is going wrong and what should be actually expected.

My question: If the fight for rights meets some difficulty, what is the next step to do to move on?
