Linjun Che A02 Week5

In this week, we read several articles. And there are two of them impressing me so much.
First one is “The Cost of Speaking” by W.P. The author worked in the college. He applied full professor promotion. He was rejected, because his ability was not good enough. However, he was very good, and the real reason was that he is not white. After that, he wanted to fight for his right, but it made him into a more severe situation. His power was so week especially that he was in a very low class of this society. But if there are like hundreds or thousands of people and even more high-class people fight together for their rights. I think that the situation will be much better.
And the second one is “Healing the Wounds and Ruptures of Graduate School” by Cindy Nhi Huynh. She talks about her experience as a graduate student who is not white in the U.S. She had to do some research that she disliked and can not get enough help on her work.  There are five stages which are “Wreckage, Bleeding Out, Cleaning the Wound, Addressing the Wound, and Scar Tissue.” And all these were because of her color. I think that this was not just a thing for people with color but all women. They were discriminated in academia, and there is a few people to fight for themselves. Therefore the situation for women especially women with color is still severe even till today. I just want to say no matter you are people with color, women or anyone who are discriminated by others, we should stand together to fight for our rights.
