After I read the “Fight the Tower: A Call Action
For Women of Color in Academia” which
was written by Kieu-Linh Caroline Valverde, I was impressed a lot. The whole
story is all about the life of the author herself, what she saw and experienced
during her life about the color of women's discrimination. The color woman is
somehow at the bottom of society and this is seen to be ridiculous from my
point of view nowadays. It is hard to imagine feeling the situation at that
time. Now, as a college student, it is hard to feel the discrimination to the
color female. For myself, I never realized this before. The author mentioned
that color women were not welcome to the college in her writing (Valverde 2013,
p. 377). However, this situation is hard to see nowadays college. There is a
lot of different race of person with different color and gender in Davis. As a
Chinese guy, I feel a different race of a person is very friendly here. The
world is getting more and more integration. There are less racist and
misogynist, which means people are getting realized to the wrong thing that
they used to do. This is also proved that discrimination against the color
female is a crime against humanity and unethical.
