Chenguang Yin
ASA 2 Section 1
Week 1

Asian American plays a significant role in U.S., especially in California. For example, according to the UC Davis profile, Asian American students are about one third of total number of students in campus. Therefore, how to protect Asian American’s right is a very important topic. Through history, each generation of Asian American has put lots of efforts to protect their own rights and their communities. Although come from many different regions, which has dramatically different cultures such as south Asia and east Asia, Asian Americans still have pan-ethnicity. In another word, Asian American still have shared interest within distinct cultures, such as the same altitude toward discrimination, violence and segregation.  Meanwhile, because of the various cultures, Asian Americans also have different communities such as Chinatown and Japantown. The picture shows the Golden Dragon Gateway in Chinatown, Los Angeles. The goal of those communities is to provide better services or protections to people who have same background.

My question is:
Do those "Ethic Enclaves" imply that Asian American culture cannot merge into mainstream culture in America?
